Antique Equipment Tour Area 8

Minerals & Rocks

The display of various Minerals and Rocks are treasures collected by numerous Lattin family members—especially Bill Lattin (Rick’s father; George’s grandson) through the years. Bill’s good friends, Wayne and Lessie Wegner, also donated many of the samples. The displays along the Tour include quartz, some copper, volcanic rock and tufa from Walker Lake near Hawthorne, Nevada.

Buggy

This carriage, unrelated to the use of the Earthmover it is sitting on top of, belonged to Mr. and Mrs. George Lattin and their eight children. This was their mode of transportation through the early 1900s, before they purchased a motor vehicle. This was known as the ”goin’ to town” buggy.

Earthmover

This advanced model in the line of dirt-moving equipment was commonly referred to as a Two-Horse Fresno. It moved two to three times more dirt than the Mormon scrapers (#10 and #12). The handle toward the back of the machine was used to lift and lower the scraper.
