Antique Equipment Tour Area 7

Small Grindstone

This grindstone, much smaller than the one in the Garden (#3) was acquired and frequently used by George Lattin. His great grandson, Bill, still remembers it being his job to run the grindstone when he was a kid. Bill turned the crank while George sat up on the grindstone and ran tools across the stone. The rebar hook on the top left held a can of water. A hole in the can allowed drops of water to fall through to keep the stone wet.

Placer Company Mining Pans

On the ground are some relic mining pans, acquired by Bill Lattin.

Mining Cart & Track

This piece of ancient mining equipment is a classic, as it is an unusually small-sized cart. It was given to Bill Lattin as a gift from a friend who worked in an old mine in southern Nevada.
