This motor was used to operate the large Grindstone now sitting in B.Ann’s Flower & Herb Garden at #3 on the Tour. The Grindstone can also be run manually, but as large as it is, farmers were grateful for motors such as this one.
The Sheller was brought to the Farm from South Dakota in 1909 by George Lattin, (the great grandfather of Rick Lattin), who started the family’s five generations of farming in the Lahontan Valley.
It is generally used for leveling dirt. However, in this Valley, these were used primarily for building levees.
